Welcome to Bluemania Maine Coon Cattery!  We are Steve and Tracy Reed, married and have two children living at home.  We are located in the Central Ohio region, approximately 30 miles east of Columbus.  Our cattery was established in 2004, and is registered with CFA and TICA. We actively show in both organizations.

It all began with Puffy, our 15-year-old female mixed breed.  Puffy is the best cat ever, and believe it or not, she was given to us when she was just 10 months old! She was already named Puffy when we adopted her.  We wanted to change her name, but when you look at her all you can see is “Puffy”, so the name stuck!  The folks who gave Puffy to us bought her from a major pet store.  They provided us with papers from the pet store that sold Puffy as a Persian. We researched Persians and couldn’t find any exact matches for Puffy.  We assume that she is a mix of Persian and Maine Coon, with a lot of Maine Coon personality.  So anyway, our love of Puffy lead us to eventually seek out a pedigreed Maine Coon.

We adopted Coonbitzky’s Venus, our first pedigreed Maine Coon in 2003.  Venus was adopted as a pet, but we felt she was so beautiful we wanted to show her (and we wanted our own babies J).  With the guidance of Laura Kembitzky, we showed Venus as a kitten and then as an “Alter” in CFA where she earned her Premier title. Venus is now retired from showing and lives a life of luxury lying in the cat tree and eating deli selects.

After Venus earned her title, we felt we were ready for breeding.  Our search for just the right cat and right breeder took six months!  We finally found the purrfect girl in Maryland - Moosecoons Lady Delia of Bluemania.  We adopted Delia from Susan Blevins in March of 2004.  Delia is simply the sweetest girl who likes to give lots of kisses, have her belly rubbed, and snuggled anytime!  She loves car rides to the shows as long as she has a window seat!  Many thanks to Susan for this lovely girl!

Our mission is to breed and raise healthy, happy Maine Coons.  Our first priority is the health of each cat.  Our breeder cats are screened for HCM by a board certified cardiologist on a regular basis. Screening helps reduce the incidence of HCM, but does not guarantee that a cat will never develop HCM.  Each kitten will be examined by our veterinarian before adoption placement.  Kittens will be sold only as pets and we do not promote declawing.  We prefer not to ship our kittens as cargo.

Each cat is just like one of our own real children, so it is very important to us that we ensure each one goes to a loving forever home in which they will receive the best quality of care.  We will always be available to our adoptive parents should they ever need our guidance.
